Greetings!
Education changes lives. It increases an individual’s income. A trained workforce is critical to grow any economy and attract new business to our area. I hear from graduates and alumni every day, how New River Community and Technical College has been a game-changer for them personally.
Recently, I have been given the rewarding challenge to serve as Executive Director of the Foundation of New River Community and Technical College. Many of you I have met in my former capacity as the State Senator representing Raleigh and Wyoming Counties in the West Virginia Senate. I hope to have the opportunity to get to know each you and enlist your support and interest in growing this institution and our area’s economy.
As a life-long resident of southern West Virginia, I have been actively involved in our community. I have served as a police officer for nearly a decade early in my professional career. I’ve also managed several businesses. From my experience in the Senate and operating businesses in the private sector, I’ve come to understand how important higher education – whether it’s a four-year college degree or a certification in a technical job – is to the future of Southern West Virginia and its ability to attract and keep people of all ages living and working here.
During my time in public service, I was an ardent supporter of New River CTC and I look forward to supporting and assisting the entire College in my new role. New River Community Technical College is changing lives. I need your help in expanding its ability to improve the lives of our family, friends and neighbors.
As the state continues to reduce funding for higher education, the role of the Foundation will take on a more significant role in assisting our students, faculty and each of the communities we serve. I know together, with the help of friends and donors such as yourself, we will succeed. I look forward to working with you and I encourage you to give me your feedback and share your experiences. Please feel free to reach out to me with any question or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Michael Green,
Executive Director of Foundation
