Friends of Coal Scholarship

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary has established a scholarship for students attending college.

Criteria for Selection

  • Must have a 3.0 grade point average or better at graduation.
  • Achieved a score of 20 or higher on the ACT or 1400 on the SAT.
  • Be able to demonstrate a financial need for the scholarship.
  • Must have a mother, father, step-mother, step-father, sister, brother, grandmother or grandfather who has been employed or is currently employed in a coal related industry.

Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship

The Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship was established to assist students who have been adopted or have been in a foster care program.

 

The Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship was established to assist students who have been adopted or have been in a foster care program.  Secondary preference will be given to employees of Wendy’s and their immediate family members.

 

Ted D. and Andrea S. Spring Family Scholarship

The Ted D. and Andrea S. Spring Family Scholarship was established by former New River CTC President, Dr. Ted Spring.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicants must be enrolled a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • High school seniors must have a 3.0 GPA.
  • College students must have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Preference will be given to students who have participated in community service activities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Ruritan National Foundation Scholarship

The Ruritan National Foundation scholarships are awarded by the Ruritan National Foundation in partnership with New River Community and Technical College to provide financial assistance to students to further their education past high school. The scholarship is matched by a Board of Governors tuition waiver, doubling the award amount.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need, good character, and academic promise.
  • Applicants must have the endorsement of two Ruritan members.
