Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship

The Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort as a perpetual memorial to Dr. Fort’s mother, Madlyn E. Fort. One full-time scholarship and four part-time scholarships will be awarded.

Criteria for Selection

  • Full-time scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
  • Part-time scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • The student must be enrolled in accredited health science courses.
  • The applicant must submit high school or college reports showing achievement in health science courses, employment or other volunteer work in health sciences, along with three written references verifying the applicant’s interest in health sciences from a person engaged in a health sciences career.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Benjamin Fort Teacher Scholarship

The Benjamin Fort Teacher Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort in honor of Dr. Fort’s father in an effort to encourage and enable students who aspire to teaching careers

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in accredited education/teaching related courses.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

D. Reginald and Nelle C. Dixon Scholarship

The D. Reginald and Nelle C. Dixon Scholarship was endowed to support and aid students who are attending courses on the Greenbrier Valley campus.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • The student must maintain a 2.7 grade point average.
  • Preference will be given to students studying courses in arts, finance, horticulture, and hospitality.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Gail C. Collins Memorial Scholarship

The Gail C. Collins Scholarship was established by Victor and Catherine Jost and friends of Gail C. Collins.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • The first preference will be given to residents of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; second preference will be given to students who are currently employed, associated with, or pursuing a career in the hospitality industry.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Greg Carter Greenbrier Hometown Hero Scholarship

The Greg Carter Hometown Hero was endowed by Roger and Phyllis Boone as a permanent memorial to Fairlea Volunteer Fireman, Greg Scott Carter.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • Applicant must be a volunteer firefighter, law enforcement officer, or a volunteer or employee of another Hometown Hero organization; second preference will be given to spouses and dependents of a Hometown Hero organization.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Judy D. Campbell Scholarship

The Judy D. Campbell Scholarship was endowed by Michael G. Campbell and was established to assist students who are residents of Greenbrier, Monroe, or Pocahontas counties.

Veronica Blanton Nursing Scholarship

  • Preference will be given to nursing students who are single parents.

George and Helen Aide Scholarship

  • High school seniors must have a 3.0 GPA.
  • College students must have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Preference will be given to students who have participated in community service activities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.
