Neighborhood Investment Program Scholarship – Raleigh County

The Neighborhood Investment Program Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College Raleigh County Campus who demonstrate financial need.

Criteria

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
  • Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.

Carter Family Foundation Scholarship

The Carter Family Foundation Scholarship is awarded to assist students in their course of study.

Criteria for Selection

  • Merit scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours and maintain at 3.0 grade point average.
  • General scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours and maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
  • Preference will be given to students who reside in Raleigh County; second preference will be given to students who reside in Fayette, Nicholas, or Mercer counties.

Carolyn Browning Social Service Scholarship

The Carolyn Browning Social Service Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Carolyn Browning, an Associate Professor at New River Community and Technical College’s Beckley campus.

Criteria for Selection

  • Applicant must be a full-time student taking a minimum of 12 semester hours.
  • The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Applicant must be a returning student that has completed at least one academic year (two semesters) of study in a social service field.
  • Applicant must submit documentation of active involvement with New River’s Social Service Club and their community.
