The Greg Carter Hometown Hero was endowed by Roger and Phyllis Boone as a permanent memorial to Fairlea Volunteer Fireman, Greg Scott Carter.
Criteria for Selection
- Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
- The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
- Applicant must be a volunteer firefighter, law enforcement officer, or a volunteer or employee of another Hometown Hero organization; second preference will be given to spouses and dependents of a Hometown Hero organization.
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need and household income 125% below the federal poverty guideline.
