Carolyn Browning Social Service Scholarship

The Carolyn Browning Social Service Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Carolyn Browning, an Associate Professor at New River Community and Technical College’s Beckley campus.

Neighborhood Investment Program Scholarship

The Neighborhood Investment Program Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College.

J. Leroy Spring Scholarship

The J. Leroy Spring Scholarship was established by former New River CTC President, Dr. Ted Spring, in memory of his uncle.

 Student Government Association Scholarship

The Student Government Association Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College’s Beaver campus who have demonstrated leadership skills.

Paul and Helen Wheeler Scholarship

Established by the Wheeler family to provide educational opportunity.

Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship

The Wendy’s Adoption Scholarship was established to assist students who have been adopted or have been in a foster care program.

Friends of Coal Scholarship

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary has established a scholarship for students attending college.

George and Helen Aide Scholarship

The George and Helen Aide Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College who demonstrate a financial need.

 Veronica Blanton Nursing Scholarship

The Veronica Blanton Nursing Scholarship was endowed by the Alicia McCormick Fund as a perpetual memorial to Veronica Blanton.

 Gail C. Collins Memorial Scholarship

The Gail C. Collins Scholarship was established by Victor and Catherine Jost and friends of Gail C. Collins.

 Judy D. Campbell Scholarship

The Judy D. Campbell Scholarship was endowed by Michael G. Campbell and was established to assist students who are residents of Greenbrier, Monroe, or Pocahontas counties.

Greg Carter Greenbrier Hometown Hero Scholarship

The Greg Carter Hometown Hero was endowed by Roger and Phyllis Boone as a permanent memorial to Fairlea Volunteer Fireman, Greg Scott Carter.

 D. Reginald and Nelle C. Dixon Scholarship

The D. Reginald and Nelle C. Dixon Scholarship was endowed to support and aid students who are attending courses on the Greenbrier Valley campus.

 Benjamin Fort Teacher Scholarship

The Benjamin Fort Teacher Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort in honor of Dr. Fort’s father in an effort to encourage and enable students who aspire to teaching careers.

 Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship

The Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort as a perpetual memorial to Dr. Fort’s mother, Madlyn E. Fort.

 Hollowell Scholarship

The Hollowell Scholarships were established by the Board of Directors of the Hollowell Foundation to promote and enhance the quality of life for citizens of the Greenbrier Valley.

 The Greenbrier Hospitality Scholarship

The Greenbrier Hospitality Scholarship was established by The Greenbrier for a student entering the hospitality industry.

Jeanne and Lawson Hamilton Scholarship

The Jeanne and Lawson Hamilton Scholarship was established to assist student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Herkness Mathematics Scholarship

The Herkness Mathematics Scholarship was endowed by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne and Eleanor “Muffy” Herkness to assist students studying mathematics curriculum.

 Babe and Sidney Louis Hyatt Scholarship

The Babe and Sidney Louis Hyatt Scholarship was established for students who share the Hyatt brothers’ interests, which included agriculture, business, religious fidelity, reading, respect for family and community traditions, and self-improvement.

 Helen Virginia Chadwick Irons Scholarship

The Helen Virginia Chadwick Irons Scholarship was endowed by Thomas and Nancy Greenstreet, Kate Fife, Virginia Wilson, and the Irons family to assist a female student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Robert Patterson Scholarship

The Robert Patterson Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort in honor of Mrs. Fort’s father to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College.

 John L. Stewart, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The John L. Stewart, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was endowed by Rosalie Stewart Detch in memory of her brother John L. Stewart, Jr. to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Elizabeth Runyon Scholarship

The Elizabeth W. Runyon Scholarship was endowed by Donald R. and Shirley F. Runyon in memory of Donald L. Runyon’s mother to encourage and enable students to pursue careers in health sciences.

 Donald R. Runyon Scholarship

The Donald R. Runyon Scholarship was endowed by Mrs. Shirley F. Runyon in memory of her husband.

 Old Stone Presbyterian Women’s Scholarship

The Old Stone Presbyterian Women Scholarship was established to assist a student attending classes in Greenbrier Hall on the campus of New River Community and Technical College.

 Mary B. Nickell Scholarship

The Mary B. Nickell Scholarship was established by the Mary B. Nickell Foundation to assist students who share Ms. Nickell’s interest in fine arts.

 Horace McGraw Scholarship

The Horace McGraw Scholarship was endowed by Mr. Joe McGraw in memory of his father.

David and Bertha Moshy Scholarship

The David and Bertha Moshy Scholarship was endowed by Dr. Joseph Moshy in honor of his parents.

McElhenney-Fry-Kirven Scholarship

The McElhenney-Fry-Kirven Scholarship was given to the Greenbrier Community College Foundation, Inc. by the Elizabeth Fry and Dupont Kirven Foundation to honor the Reverend John and Mrs. Rebecca Walkup McElhenney, organizers of the Lewisburg Academy in 1812, which is now the Greenbrier Valley campus of New River Community and Technical College. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of student achievement and aspirations in academic, leadership, and citizenship, and is not awarded on the basis of financial need.

 David B. McClung Scholarship

The David B. McClung Scholarship is offered by the Greenbrier Valley Dental Association to promote and enable students pursuing careers in the healthcare industry.

The Clarence A. “Bussie” Allen Scholarship

Founded in memory of an acclaimed businessman to assist minority students.

 Marie Leist Foundation Scholarship

The Marie Leist Foundation Scholarship was established to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Dr. Richard and Ann Kline Scholarship

The Dr. Richard and Ann Kline Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Richard and Ann Kline to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Mary Louise and Jim Kilcollin Scholarship

The Mary Louise and Jim Kilcollin Scholarship was endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Mark and Debra Kilcollin in memory of Dr. Kilcollin’s parents.

Edward D. Knight, Jr. Scholarship

The Edward D. Knight Scholarship was established by Mrs. E.D. Knight, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Knight, III to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College.

 Joan C. Browning Community Service Scholarship

The Joan C. Browning Community Service Scholarship was established to award students who have engaged in volunteer services to their community in the Greenbrier Valley.

Student Teaching Scholarship

The Student Teaching Scholarship was established by an anonymous donor to assist students during the student teaching semester.

The Katherine Patterson Scholarship

The Katherine Patterson Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle and Ann Fort in honor of Mrs. Fort’s mother to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College.

Raleigh County Campus Scholarships

(Applicants must reside in Fayette or Raleigh County)

 Carter Family Foundation Scholarship

The Carter Family Foundation Scholarship is awarded to assist students in their course of study.

Preference will be given to students who reside in Raleigh County; second preference will be given to students who reside in Fayette, Nicholas, or Mercer counties.

The Neighborhood Investment Program Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College Raleigh County Campus who demonstrate financial need.

Bickey Family ATC Scholarship

The Bickey Family Advanced Technology Center Scholarship was established by Dan, Cynthia, and Matt Bickey to assist students developing technical skills to enter the workforce.
